Blood Estate: J.J. McChesney Receipt, September 1895 and letter
Object/Artifact
Receipt from J.J. McChesney, Dr., Feed, Oats, Corn & C. Bicycles, Hardware, & c. for Cleaning and repairing Harnesses, dated Millburn, N.J., September 1, 1895 issued to Mr. Blood. Receipt contains the following handwritten note from Alfred Blood, " I think you "sweated" me on this job. Rather steep for a couple of hours work.
Letter of reply from J.J. McChesney included. Letter reads: "I am very sorry that you think that I over charged you. Man was one whole day cleaning without the repairing that was done and material furnished you say two hours. I have never been able clean one harness in that time, but there were two cleaned and oiled for which I consider I charge you a fair price and no more than I charge everybody. Yours, J.J. McChesney."
