Summer 2024 Internships
The Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society is seeking rising and current Millburn High School Students to help with the following summer projects. The goal of these projects is to encourage and perpetuate local history of our town, while contemporizing our resources. These projects are designed to be fun, engaging, educational, and meaningful to our local community and beyond, and will be conducted under the supervision and guidance of the Historical Society.
This year’s projects include:
1. Organizing and Archiving the Historical Society Museum Collection
The Millburn Short Hills Historical Society Museum contains a treasure trove of material from the late 18th century to the present day documenting our town’s fascinating past. Rising 9th graders and older will have the opportunity to gain experience in museum collection management. Interns will be tasked with sorting, cataloging and scanning materials and learn how to assess historical significance of individual items. Interns will work primarily within the museum building.
2. Research and write text for new Historical Society tours of notable buildings and people of Millburn-Short Hills.
