New York City Mayor (1826-1898) A. Oakey Hall's Short Hills Home. A. Oakey Hall was the infamous New York City mayor from 1869-1872, who was helped into office by Boss Tweed. Hall was vilified for his connection to Tweed, although he was eventually acquitted of all charge of wrongdoing. Hall and his family had a summer residence in Short Hills near the Fox Hill Reserve also known as the Oakey Tract.
