Masi's Barber Shop: Tonsorial Parlor, 44 Main Street, 1908

Photograph of Frank Masi (left) and Elwood Mayes (right) standing in front of the barber shop at 44 Main Street, Millburn. Frank Masi (1889-1960) was born in Italy in 1889 and came to the US in c. 1897. He settled in Millburn and began working for Elwood Mays in 1908 at the first Barber Shop in Millburn, originally called Sid & El's Barber Shop. In 1911, he purchased the purchased the business and in 1932 hired Michael M. Savia, who later took over the business. The photograph was in the collection of "Mike the Barber," Michael Savia.
