Masonic Lodge: Edward Johan Williams Continental Lodge, No., 190, Millburn, 1909

Membership card for Edward John Williams into the Continental Lodge, No. 190, F.&A.M, Millburn, N.J. Dated February 23, 1909 (?), requesting Williams to be at the Lodge Tuesday evening February 26 at 8:15 pm to received the entered apprentice degree. The balance of the initiation fee of $50 to be paid at that time. Signed John Mayer, Secretary. Notice that an additional $1.00 for subscription to the George Washington Memorial to be paid. Plans for a Masonic monument to George Washington, developed in the mid 19th century, were put on hold following the Civil War. The campaign started up again in 1909 with the purchase of land for a park in Virginia.
