Millburn Avenue Bridge, c. 1906

Postcard
Handcolored postcard of the Millburn Avenue Bridge viewed from Taylor Park towards Millburn Avenue. The postcard bears the message: I send you this to let you know that we have brooks in Milburn (sic), too. With love F.M.O. The postcard is postmarked August 10, 1906 and addressed to Miss Mary C. Osborne, c/o J. Anketell, Basking Ridge NJ. This is the earliest example of this postcard in our collection. Postcards with undivided backs and the word Postcard on the address side date to c. 1901-1907. During this period, messages were not permitted on the verso of the postcards, they were reserved for the front of postcards, where a white space was left at the bottom of the image for inscriptions. The verso of postcards were reserved for the address.
