North Jersey Nurseries envelope & contents October 26,1916

Slightly yellowed envelope, Chatham, New Jersey cancellation Oct. 26, 1916; from North Jersey Nurseries, formerly at the bottom of Main Street, opposite the Millburn entrance to the Springfield Presbyterian Church cemetery. Letter was sent to Mr. David S. Herr (Lancaster County Nurseries) in Lancaster PA. Envelope contains a browned return envelope addressed to "North Jersey Nurseries; Millburn Horticultural Gardens; Millburn, New Jersey; Propogators and Importers of Trees and Plants." Envelope also contains a letter to Mr. Herr, which states: "The inspector called to inspect the stock you shipped us on Oct. 8th, he rejected the following stock on account of root-gall. 5 Cuthbert Raspberries; 1 Erie Blackberry; 2 Blower Blackberries." Letter is folded once horizontally and twice vertically. Purchased on eBay from Edward L. Eckman; 1847 Krystle Dr.; Lancaster, PA 17602. Envelopes and letters were deacidified with Bookkeeper.
