Dearing: Benjamin Dearing Letter to C.L. Elliot, 1929

Typed note from C.L. Elliott of Montclair to Benjamin Dearing dated June 3, 1929 requesting that Dearing return a card with his name and address, so he can complete his book of G.A.R. Members. Reverse side has a handwritten note from Dearing to Elliott, chronicling his Civil War service. Dearing's note reads: "Fought under General Grand-Sheridan-Sherman and Thomas. Participated in 12 battles Taken prisoner, escaped, retaken and exhcanged There is one other member of Post 96 living, Fred Deinen. Ben Dearing
