Nadin: Ruby Ethel Matthews Lyon Photograph, 1922

Photograph
Photograph from Lipp Studio, Philadelphia of a young woman in a fur hat. Inscription on the photo folder reads: "To dear Aunt Sophy. With Love from Ruby. 1922" The photograph is part of the Nadin-Bosworth Collection. Sophy may refer to Sophia B. Nadin, who married John Bosworth in September 1890. Sophia's sister, Harriet A. Nadin married George B. Lyon. Their son, Russell Albert Lyon's (1892-1977) first wife was Ruby Ethel Matthews (1896-1971). This would have made Sophia A. Nadin Ruby's aunt by marriage. At the time this photograph was taken, she would have been 26 years old. Lipp Studio was a prominent photography studio in Philadelphia. In 1922, they had two locations: 1210 Chestnut Street and 1228 Market Street.
