According to a notice in Real Estate Record and Builders Guide, (August 29, 1914). The Edward P. Hamilton & Company sold, on behalf of Charles W.L. Roche, "the property known as Druidream, comprising a modern residence and a garage with about 3 acres of land fronting on Hobart Avenue to Clarence Williams."
In 1925, the house was sold to Arthur T. Vanderbilt, who served as Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court from 1947-57.According to a biography of Vanderbilt, he left his home at 7:00 am every day and from his 1939 Cadillac coupe to the Short Hills station to catch the 7:23 am Lackawanna to Newark.
