Battle of Springfield: 200th Anniversary Beacon, 1980

Letter
Portion of Newark Star Ledger, Friday, 20 June 1980. The article is titled "History buff burns with enthusiasm" and is written by Wed Dvorak. The article outlines a part of the 200th celebration of the Battle of Springfield, where a 46-year-old engineer, James Raleigh, built a model Revolutionary War beacon to light for the celebration. His beacon mimics one of 23 beacons that were built in Central Jersey during the war.
