48-star American Flag

Object/Artifact
48-star American flag attached to 36" X 7/8" piece of wood with black paint on one side. Flag is very soiled and stained with tiny holes and tears toward outside edge of flag. There is also one larger one-inch tear and separation from wood on top left corner of flag. Flag is attached to wood by two tiny nails. Many stars appear to be fading (as if bleached) from blue of material. Many folds are present. Found in attic of home of Janet Zapata, at 21 Highland Ave, Short Hills, NJ.
