1913 NJ Automobile License Plate

Object/Artifact
1913 enameled metal New Jersey automobile license plate #1033 with attached makers tag. White background with red, slightly raised letters. Ca. 7" wide x 3/4" high area along bottom of plate is missing enamel and has rusted. Enamel is also worn off at the top, adjoining the two 1 1/2" oval holes on the top.Makers tag has a 1 1/2" split along approximate middle of tag, which has white corrosion overall most of the surface. Owner of 79 Minnisink said the plates were found under the floor boards of a former carriage house(?) on the property, which is now their guest house. The plates (and some old newspapers) were apparently put there to provide insulation from the exposed soil below.
