137 Hobart Avenue, "The Lodge," c. 1877
Photograph
Hartshorn House #1. Architect: A.B. Jennings. This house incorporates Stick Style characteristics and features from several other styles. The solid bargeboards, as opposed to the open or pierced type (commonly called "gingerbread"), are in the Japanese tradition, while the balustraded balcony is a Swiss Chalet feature. The trefoil window in the small dormer is in the Gothic mode.
The house was purchased by "Mrs. Humphrey" in April 1888.
