57 Linden Street

Photograph
Photographs of 57 Linden Street in the Wyoming section of Millburn from the 1978 David Gibson Architectural Survey. According the the survey, the house was built in c. 1885. It appears on the Robinson Atlases of 1890, 1906 and 1928. The house was owned by the Doty Family (Joseph and Cora Doty) in 1912 and remained occupied by the possession until at least 1943. Later owners were: Douglas and Mary E. Andrews (1947), Thomas and Katherine Peters (1977), F. and P. Wolff (1977). The house is in the Italianate Villa style and features an enclosed cupola. The property contained an octagonal gazebo, which was enclosed by the Doty's, in the hopes of being used as a house for their daughter. Joseph (1844-1907) & Cora Doty (1849-1948) had 4 daughters (Hazel M. Doty, b. 1887; Dorothy B. Doty, b. 1889; Gladys B. Doty, b. 1892, and Josephine G. Doty, b. 1893).
