Red Cross: Awards Ceremony - Lyons V.A.

Awards Ceremony- Lyons V.A. (early photo). A group of faithful volunteers with hospital director - Paul Kidd. Three Red Cross volunteers received awards for many hours. Miss Julia Van Fleet (Full uniform and cap) received the most amount of hours for the year. Upon Julia's death in 1993 at age 92 she had volunteered 50,000+ hours at Lyons for Red Cross since her retirement from teaching in 1962. she served at the hospital up to about a year before her death. Earlier she was involved in SMF volunteer work in 1948 for army veterans. Julie was honored at the White House by the President of the U.S.A. for her many years of volunteerism at the V.A.
