Burt Pool Ball Factory: G.H. Burt Billiard & Pool Balls Envelope, 1898

Postally used envelope from G.H. Burt, Manufacturer of Billiard & Pool Balls, Office and Factory, Millburn, NJ postmarked Millburn, July 7, 1898 12 M, addressed to The National Billiard Manufacturing Company, 6-8-10 West Canal Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, and received on July 8, 1898, 6:30 pm. The Burt Billiard Ball Company was the largest Pool Ball Works in America at the time. Site was near where South Mountain School is today. George H. Burt, b. November 1863, died before 1920 census. Married Ella Marie (b. 1864), c. 1888. Father was an ivory turner. George Burt founded the concern in c. 1891, establishing the Burt Manufacturing Company in 1898. The company was reorganized in 1900 and Burt moved to England in October 1900 to pursue similar interests.
