Centennial Parade: Don Palmer on Hi-Wheel Bike at Millburn Centennial Parade, 1957

Photograph
Photograph of Don Palmer riding his Hi-Wheel Bike in the 1957 Millburn Centennial Parade. According to the May 9, 1959 edition of The Millburn & Short Hills Item, Dave Palmer followed far behind the float by the Public Service Coordinated Transport and Electric & Gas Co. The large expanse of empty space was necessary to allow Palmer and his Hi-Wheel bike to "do loops, swishes and twists, in order to stay upright while traveling in a parade that goes too slow for a high-wheeled bike."
