Oral History: Forstchen, William R. (essay c. 2004)

Oral History
Author, a professor at Montreat College in North Carolina, was born in 1950 and grew up in Millburn. Very well-written with much interesting detail of doing things with his mother around town (many stores mentioned); train memories,;description of WPA mural from old post office,;the old Washington School (where he said outside the principal's office there was a menorah as well as a Christmas tree and the kids would make decorations). NOTE: His description of measures taken during polio outbreak in 1954-55 sounds very similar to COVID measures, including parents' setting up what we call pods for limited socializing. 12pp.
