Dunn: Bob Dunn on Quick on the Draw, 1950

Photograph
Photograph of Bob Dunn on Quick on the Draw, one of the first ever game shows, 1950. Quick on the Draw, one of the very first TV game show, debuted May 1950 on WNBT, a New York affiliate of NBC. Eloise McElhone hosted the show, a variation on charades in which cartoonist Bob Dunn drew pictures, instead of pantomiming clues to a panel of celebrities who competed to decode the meaning of Dunn's sketches. The panelists changed each week. Shown are (Left to right): Cartoonist Ham Fisher (creator of "Joe Palooka), actress Faye Emerson, magician Dunninger, comic actor Morey Amsterdam and cartoonist Bob Dunn. The program was picked up by the DuMont Television Network and was broadcast weekly throughout 1952, with Robin Chandler as hostess and Dunn continuing as the artist.
