Bailey: Samuel Bailey Letter, 1801

Note from Samuel Bailey to Silvanus Lawrence, June 6, 1801. Note reads: "June the 6 day one thousand eight hundred and one received of Samuel Baley (sic) of Cannoebroock the just and full sum of fourty nine dollars and fifty sents which I except in full for three Nots of hand which the said Baley gave to Nodiah Potter of the Short Hills, which said Nots were sined over to me by said potter said nots I promise to deliver up to said Baley. Signed Samuel Bailey Jr, Silvanus Lawrance ."
Verso reads: "Receipt of Silvanus Lawrence"
May be referring to Noadiah Potter. Who lived in Essex County in 1790. His name appeared on a petition, 12 Jan 1793, to the Governor from inhabitants of Springfield, “Conoe” Brook, Chatham, and Westfield in Essex County stating they had formed a “Company of light Dragoons” and electe
