Battle of Springfield: Caldwell House and Hannah Caldwell Monument, 1780

Photograph of a monument near the place where a British Soldier killed Hannah Ogden (or Rev. Caldwell's wife). The plaque reads "Near this spot stood the Parsonage in which Hannah Ogden wife of Rev. James Caldwell was kiled by a British Soldier. June 7, 1780. Erected by the State of New Jersey A.D. 1905". Also attached are pictures of the Caldwell Parsonage Museum rebulit and preserved by the Union Township Historical Society in 1960. The white sign reads "Parsonage. Erected in 1780 original building on same site burned by British - murder of Hannah Caldwell. June 7, 1780." The black sign reads "Caldwell's Home. Site of Parsonage used by James Caldwell family, burned by British in 1780. Mrs. Caldwell was killed by a British Soldier."
