232 Sagamore Road," Princesssgate," 1896

Photograph
Joy Wheeler Dow designed "Princessgate" for himself. He considered the architecture to belong to that of the "Romantic School," pure and simple. Steep Dutch gables, projecting eaves and roof dormers all contribute to the Dutch and English feelings of the home. The architect deliberately faced the dining room southeast (more south than east) so that bright light would greet the homeowner on cold winter mornings.
