Killoran: Unidentified female from Killoran photo album, c. 1860

Photograph
Hand-tinted tintype of unidentified woman. Photograph was taken in a studio with a Corinthian column in the background. Her left hand is resting gently on a book, indicating she is an educated woman, while in her right hand she holds a handkerchief, a symbol of feminine delicacy. She is properly dressed in the style of the period, wearing a fashionable, but understated hat, as would be appropriate for women at the time.
