R. De Villers Seymour House, American Home, September 1938

Publication
"New Jersey: Short Hills. The Home of Mr. R. De Villers Seymour. Architect: David Ludlow," The American Home, 20, 4 (September 1938), p. 31. The address of the house is not known at this time. According to the November 9, 1934 issue of The Item, architect David Ludlow had recently designed a colonial style home for Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Campbell on Hillside Avenue in Short Hills. According to the May 26, 1939 issue of The Item, Mr. and Mrs. R. De Villers Seymour had recently moved from West Road, having bought the former Howe residence on Crescent Place. It is likely that the house pictured in the magazine was located on West Road. Ralph de Villers Seymour (1904-1980) was retired president of the real estate and insurance firm of Seymour, Kinsler, Schermerhorn. He was also the former treasurer of the Real Estate Board of the Oranges & Maplewood and a member of the Millburn-Short Hills Rotary Club.
