DescriptionLast of the big paper mills. The source of the name is unclear. Captain Jonas Wade converted a grist mill into a past board and binder's board mill before 1810 Jonas also owned a tannery, distillery, & other mills in the area, but had sold most by 1820. In 1856, the mill was purchased by Israel Condit. By 1882, the mill had 24 people employed and was producing 6 tons of boards/daily. The mill ceased operation in 1966
