Hartshorn: Jane Dixon Hartshorn, b. 1809

Photograph
Cabinet card photograph of Jane Dixon Hartshorn, Stewart Hartshorn's mother taken by Davis & Sanford, 246 Fifth Avenue, New York. This photograph and the one of Jacob Hartshorn must have been taken from another reproduction of the the couple, as the photography studio of Davis and Sanford did not exist during their lifetimes. Founded in 1892, Davis and Sanford was a partnership between Charles Henry Davis (1862-1929) and E. Starr Sanford (1862-1917). Their photography studio was located at 246 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The firm was known for portraits of prominent figures of the Gilded Age.
