Knorr's Milk Bar, c. 1954

Postcard
1954 postally unused color photograph of Knorr's Milk Bar, formerly at 790 Morris Turnpike in Short Hills. Apparently Knorr's opened ca. 1954 and this postcard likely commemorated that opening. The back of the postcard has "5/22/54" written in pencil on the back. The local city directories record Knorr's at that address in 1954-1956. By December 1955, Grunings ice cream parlor had opened in that location. The back of the postcard has this text: "A fine place to eat. The best in REAL homemade ice cream. Located on the Morris Turnpike--N.J. Route 24 midway between Springfield and Chatham, New Jersey. Phone: MIlburn 6-8153" A small map below that marks its location on Morris Turnpike. Below the map is: "Meals served from Hotdogs to Steaks" and "Color Photo: George E. Scheller" The postcard was printed by American Photographic Service Co., Hackettstown, N.J. and in numbered 5971.
