"Short Hills Private School," Short Hills Country Day School, c. 1900

Postcard
Cream-colored real photo postcard with a ca. 1900 photo (re?)printed on what seems to be a 1960+ unused postcard. The postcard was printed by Opdyke Offset at 82 Rutgers Street in Belleville, NJ, as was at least one other early Millburn school photo postcard (St. Rose of Lima School) in the society's collection. Belleville directories from ca. 1925 to the late 1950's do not record an Opdyke Offset in Belleville and the first time the name Opdyke appears in Belleville is in the 1960 directory (the year of the latest Belleville directory found online). There was, however, only a Rutgers Place in all those directories and no Rutgers Street, so the presumption is the postcard was printed after 1960, as there seems to be a Rutgers Street in Belleville now. The donor apparently kindly donates local postcards to historical societies in many US states.
