Canoe Brook in Summit, 1910

Postcard
Real-photo, color postcard view of Canoe Brook in Summit, NJ. The postcard was sent to Miss Minnie Hamblin at 464 Seminary St. in Galesburg IL. A persistent legend records that the Lenape Native Americans built canoes on the canoe brook and when the spring freshets came, paddled them to the Passaic River and down to the great bay at Newark. The postcard has bumped corners, edgewear, and yellowing, especially obvious on the right side of the address side of the postcard. The card was purchased on eBay from O. Kalinina, 56 True St., Revere MA 02151.
