Envelope addressed to Arthur T. Caparn, Short Hills, Nj from his father Thomas J. Caparn, Landscape Architect, 925 Broad Street, Newark. Postmarked Newark, July 31, 1900. Received in Short Hills, July 31, 1900.
Thomas John Caparn moved from England to Short Hills in 1884 and became a successful landscape gardener and horticultural architect. By 1886, he and his son, Arthur Tom Caparn were well established. Arthur Tom Caparn became a supervisor at Pitecher and Manda and was with the firm in 1893, when they received awards at the Colombian Exposition in Chicago. Thomas J. Caparn also maintained an office at 925 Broad Street in Newark, NJ.
