David Gibson survey photograph. In 1978, the house was owned by Harold F. Butler. According to research done at the Essex County Hall of Records, the house was purchased by the Butlers from Gaston L. Chanier in 1939. Chaier purchased the house from Fannie Traphagen in 1921. Albert D. Traphagen purchased the land from Abraham J. Parkhurst in 1854,
