Christ Church, 1948-9

Photograph
This picture was taken on the eve of enormous growth in the church and before a series of expansions to the building. Dating is quite accurate as the new street sign for Highland Avenue and Forest Avenue id in place. Prior to 1948, Short Hills was devoid of street signs, but their installation was forced by the US Post Office before home delivery of mail could be instituted. On the church, the enlarging of the sanctuary and the addition of the chapel had not yet taken place.
