Boy Scouts: Bob Cat Cub Scout Pin. c. 1949

Object/Artifact
Bob Cat Cub Scout pin belonging to Tommy Thomas (Elmer C. Thomas III) from c. 1949. The Bobcat pin was introduced to scouting in 1938 as the entry level badge. In 1948, the BSA changed the official name from Cubs BSA to Cub Scouts, B.S.A. This pin is from that period. In the later 1950s, Bob Cat was changed from two words to one word. This pin may be from 1949, when the members of South Mountain pack 12 held their first pack night. Tommy Thomas belonged to that pack.
