The photographs are of the house when it was occupied by Stewart Henry Hartshorn, Jr. and Ernestine Pfeiffer Hartshorn and just before they sold it and moved to 153 Highland Avenue. Stewart Henry Hartshorn, Jr. moved back to Short Hills in 1945 around the time of his mother's death. In 1947, he married Ernestine Pfeiffer Hartshorn and they lived at 163 Highland Avenue. By 1949, they had relocated to 153 Highland Avenue.
