From Obituary in the Item, November 13, 1986: " Mr. Mascuch was president of Victory Engineering Co., Springfield, which he founded in 1942 for research in the medical field along with Breeze Corp. Inc., Union, which he sold to Trans Technology of California in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
Following his discharge from the service Mr. Mascuch founded a laboratory and automotive research center in East Orange. He developed a method for shielding so that radios could be heard in automobiles and planes as well as the first hammered piston rings, rustproof bumpers and intensified sparkplugs. Mr. Mascuch also developed armor plating to protect American pilots during World War II, radar systems and helicopter hoists credited with saving numerous lives during the Vietnam War.
At the time of his death Mr. Mascuch was drawing royalties from able to contribute million a year to more than 100 patents, and he was medical science and research. In received an honorary doctorate in science from New Jersey Institute of Technology and this year received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Hungarian Foundation. Born in Newark, Mr. Mascuch moved here 60 years ago.
He was a master Mason, a member of Newark Post 10 of American Legion and a fellow of the Radio Club of America. His wife of nearly 49 years, Jean, died in 1978. A brother, Julius of Cranford, survives."
