56 Highland Avenue Garden, 1967-8

Photograph
Composite photo of two color photos of the garden at 56 Highland Avenue, the home of John and Lois Poinier. The house was an original Hartshorn Estates, Inc. home, constructed in 1880 and was later purchased by Helen Page Wodell, co-founder of the landscaping firm of Wodell & Cottrell. The house passed to her daughter Lois Poinier, who also became a nationally renowned landscape designer. The two photos are glued to a piece of cardboard, on which is written in ink: "Spring 1967 before apple tree came down; 56 Highland Avenue" Also written ink, but crossed out is: "Sept 1968; Plants had not been moved" and "Early Sept. 1968."
