Fire Department: Letter from Josephine O' Mana regarding her grandfather, Joseph Patrick O' Mara

Object/Artifact
The letter talks about how she found out a lot about her grandfather when she visited his grave for a family matter. It states that he was the first fire chief of Short Hills. It also gives information about the fire station the time. When the alarm rang, the horse harnesses were simultaneously dropped and fastened on each horse. It says that the water wagons consisted of steam engines to pump the water so they would get very heavy. She also says that according to her sister, Florence Sterling, the outline of this firehouse is still visible in the ground.
