Kobbe (1857-1918), music critic for the New York Herald, who lived in Short Hills at the time. Kobbe had 5 children: Four daughters and one son.The letter may have been intended for Gustave Kobbe's eldest daughter, Hildegarde, who would have been 7 at the time.
